While the views of Mt. St. Helena are a natural wonder, the real magic of Hidden Valley Lake (HVL) lies in its private, member-only amenities. For 2026, the Hidden Valley Lake Association (HVLA) remains dedicated to maintaining these gems for the exclusive use of our residents.

As your local expert with Live Wine Country, here are the top five amenities you need to know about.

1. The Private 102-Acre Lake

The lake is the heartbeat of our summer social life, but it remains a truly exclusive benefit. Lake access is strictly reserved for residents and their guests. This ensures that our community facilities are never overcrowded and remain a peaceful retreat for those of us who call Hidden Valley Lake home.

To maintain the tranquility of the water, it is strictly a no-wake lake. Whether you are cruising in the morning or enjoying a sunset boat ride, the following rules apply for 2026:

  • Boating Permits: All residents must obtain a permit from the HOA office to bring a boat onto the lake. This applies to both gas and electric-powered motors.

  • Resident & Guest Access: Only members of the Association and their invited guests are permitted to use the lake, marinas, and beaches.

  • Marinas & Slips: Wet slips are available for rent at the Marina. These are highly coveted, and there is currently a waitlist for new applicants.

  • Small Craft Storage: For those with kayaks or paddleboards, convenient storage spaces are available for rent right off of Big Beach. Please contact the HOA office to get on the waiting list for these spaces.

2. Championship Golf Course & Dining

The Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course is a premier 18-hole facility that serves as a major social hub for the community.

  • The Greenview Bar & Grill: This is the place to meet your neighbors! The restaurant is open to the public and offers nightly specials, Happy Hour, and a monthly trivia night that is always a local favorite.

  • Vibrant Social Scene: The community boasts active Men’s and Women’s Golf Clubs. During the summer, don’t miss the popular Couple’s Twilight events along with many other tournaments sponsored by owners and non-profits.

  • Golf Cart Rules: Residents who own golf carts can use the golf cart paths for easy community travel. You must simply register your golf cart at the Pro Shop before use.

3. The Equestrian Center

One of the most unique features of HVL is our full-service Equestrian Center, making horse ownership accessible and convenient.

  • Facilities: The center includes barn stalls with attached paddocks, a large 150’x200′ arena, a round pen, and a wash rack.

  • Boarding: Residents can board their horses on-site for a monthly fee (approx. $73/month plus feed), providing a rare opportunity for horse lovers within a gated community.

4. Olympic-Sized Community Pool

When you need a break from the lake, the seasonal community pool offers a resort-style escape.

  • Fitness & Learning: During the summer months, the pool offers organized swimming lessons for the kids and dedicated lap swim sessions for those looking for a low-impact workout.

  • Summer Hub: The pool is professionally staffed and features a large deck for sunbathing. It remains one of the top spots for community BBQs and family gatherings.

5. Tennis and Pickleball Courts

Staying active is easy with our well-maintained racquet sports facilities.

  • Inclusive Play: With the rise of pickleball, the courts have become a great place to meet neighbors and join in “round-robin” style games.

  • Exclusivity: Like the lake, these facilities are common areas reserved for the use and enjoyment of our members and their guests.

  • Accessing the Courts: Keys for the court gates can be obtained at the Association office. Please ensure you have your residency information ready when you stop by.

A Quick Tip from Jaime: Keep Your ID Handy!

To make sure our private amenities stay exclusive to the people who live here, I always recommend that my clients and neighbors get their official Resident ID cards right away.

Whether you’re heading to the pool, launching your boat, or just enjoying a day at the beach, having your ID on you makes everything smoother. It helps our security team and staff keep the community safe and ensures you get the full “member experience” every time. If you haven’t grabbed your 2026 ID yet, swing by the Association office and they’ll get you squared away!

Actually, no! While the lake and most parks are private, the Hidden Valley Lake Golf Course and the Greenview Bar & Grill are open to the public. It’s a great way for the community to welcome guests and show off our beautiful “Wine Country” backyard.

Definitely. During the summer season, the pool isn’t just for splashing around—they offer organized swimming lessons for various age groups. It’s a staple of summer break for HVL families.
